My name is Marta Durá Cerdá. I am currently 21 years old. My personal history could be understood as multiple facts that has made me the way I am, which will be explained on the following lines.

 

I was born in Valencia, and that is the place where I have been living my entire life. As a result, I have learned different languages that have been used during my childhood and also now. Living in Valencia has brought me the chance of studying Spanish and Valencian, languages that coexists in the same environment. Because of that reason I think that Spanish is my first language, and the latter has been learned since I went to the school.

 

Learning a language requires time. A language is a system of signs that is acquired with practice. I have spent lot of time to study a foreign language: English. But, why English?

When I went to Primary School, I started with my first lessons. Despite they were not sessions where we could improve all our skills as speakers, I realized, that a language was complex and I decided to study it hard to improve my language competences. When I arrived to high school, I often practice sport with people that came to my school from other countries. I found it amazing, because you knew lot of thing about people from all over the world while you were talking in a different language.

 

Now, that I am fully conscious of who I am and which are my expectations, I have decided to study teaching at University of Valencia. I could have chosen different alternatives, but I decided that being an English teacher was an enriching experience that could make me learn new things about other cultures and also teach my students some values, vocabulary, knowledge and grammar structures of the language I have been always familiar with.  But the most important thing, is that I have chosen English teaching because I feel that nobody can give English classes the same way I do, and I am completely sure that with effort, motivation and love everything is possible.
